Understand the job
Job levels
Responsibility matters more than the title alone.
What does it mean?
Job levels distinguish the scope, complexity, independence or leadership expected in a role. “Senior” at one employer may mean something different at another.
Why does it matter?
Comparing roles without their responsibilities can lead to misleading pay comparisons.
How can it affect my pay or career?
CCS labels level context as estimated. Years alone never assign a level, and an estimated level never changes BLS wage figures.
