Read the numbers
Minimum, midpoint and maximum
The three reference points in an employer’s pay band.
What does it mean?
The minimum is the bottom of a pay band, the midpoint is its central reference point, and the maximum is its top. Employers may set a policy midpoint; ask how it is defined.
Why does it matter?
These numbers describe the employer’s structure, not what any one person is entitled to earn.
How can it affect my pay or career?
Ask how starting pay, raises and promotions relate to the band. Reaching the maximum can change how an employer handles future increases.
