Internal equity

How pay compares inside an organization.

What does it mean?

Internal equity means considering how pay relates across employees and jobs within the same employer, using responsibilities and other relevant factors.

Why does it matter?

A consistent structure can make pay decisions clearer and reveal differences that need explanation.

How can it affect my pay or career?

You can ask how the employer sets pay for comparable work. A difference alone does not establish discrimination or another legal violation.
